- ACTION STEP: Create a community awareness campaign about the importance of effective parenting and parent responsibilities, community support for raising children, and the availability of community resources.
- ACTION STEP: Create a community awareness campaign to educate parents and the community on safety hazards in the home and neighborhoods, such as guns, drugs, gangs and the internet
- ACTION STEP: Engage the media as a partner in promoting non-violence.

Engaging Officials: Engage elected officials to support and promote the Keeping Our Kids Safe: Violence Prevention Network.
- ACTION STEP: Educate elected officials on community data.
- ACTION STEP: Encourage elected officials to issue a City/School Board Proclamation.
- ACTION STEP: Encourage elected officials to participate in Town Hall Meetings hosted by Keeping Our Kids Safe: Violence Prevention Network.
- ACTION STEP: Include regular presentations at City Council, School Board, etc., work sessions on Keeping Our Kids Safe: Violence Prevention Network progress.
- ACTION STEP: Encourage usage of project information in City Council speeches, i.e. State of the City, speeches to the community groups.
- ACTION STEP: Encourage guest editorials on progress of initiative by elected officials and citizens.
Citizen Participation: Educate Citizens and Promote Citizen Participation.
- ACTION STEP: Circulate a Pledge Against Violence for citizen signature and publicize widely.
- ACTION STEP: Develop website for information, strategies, opportunities, and to assist in preventing violence.
- ACTION STEP: Develop a menu of signature promotional events, such as community summits.
- ACTION STEP: Ask faith community to support violence prevention month (October).
- ACTION STEP: Promote Positive Youth Development and the Developmental Asset Framework.
- ACTION STEP: Include information on violence prevention, bullying, gangs, risk and protective factors at events and summits sponsored by Network members and other community organizations.
